Ganvié: planning a lakeside city visit

Reach the Abomey-Calavi landing stage and arrange the lake visit separately.

The road transfer reaches the landing stage. Boat transport, local guide, access times and any fees are confirmed separately to avoid unclear promises.

On location

The lake village spreads across Lake Nokoué: stilt houses, pirogues serving as streets and trade carried out on the water. Boats leave from the Abomey-Calavi landing stage.

Suggested duration
Half a day: about thirty minutes by road, then two to three hours on the water.
Local tip
Leave early in the morning: the light is better, the lake calmer and the heat still gentle.

Before leaving

Check handover time, fuel or charge level, tyre pressure and the support contact. Take time to photograph the condition report with the agent.

Choosing the car

A city car suits most urban travel. For luggage, longer stays or tracks, prefer an SUV or 4×4. Ask for advice if your itinerary leaves the main roads.
